International Association of Special Investigation Units
Louisiana State Chapter

2003 Conference

The Louisiana State Chapter of the International Association of Special Investigation Units is pleased to announce  its conference to be held at the Pan American Life Conference Center in New Orleans, Louisiana June 9-12, 2003.  Over 250 individuals and 35 different exhibitors attended our 1999 conference from states as far away as Washington, Michigan and New York.

This year’s conference will be focusing on insurance claims issues that affect each and every one of us.  First, we will have the opportunity to sharpen our interviewing skills and techniques.  Securing statements is such an integral part of the claims process and yet today many insurance carriers are overlooking their importance.  Next, the attendee can choose to attend either the Bodily Injury or Property Damage Investigations classes.  The bodily injury class will examine those claims from the initial medical examination, through physical therapy and finally into medical billing and coding issues.  Property damage claims will also be put under the microscope with an emphasis in helping the claims examiner to identify non-meritorious claims.  The final morning sessions will consist of overviews on how to use the presented information to fairly evaluate and negotiate claims.   We feel the information to be presented will be valuable training and learning tools for team leaders, line unit claim representatives, defense attorneys and SIU personnel.

Seating space is limited; therefore we encourage your immediate response.  Admission is by invitation only.  An early registration fee of $125.00 if paid before 2/28/03 and $150.00 thereafter is required from each participant.

For our out of town guest, the Whitney Wyndham Hotel is offering special rates of $109 single and $119 double occupancy.  The hotel is located directly across the street from the conference center and is just two short blocks from the French Quarter.  Hotel accommodations can be made directly with the hotel by calling 1-800-WYNDHAM or 504-581-4222.  Please ask for the IASIU rate when making your arrangements.  For information about New Orleans including other hotels and online reservations visit www.seeneworleans.net .
